Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT)
Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT)
A study in which the act of assigning or ordering subjects to treatments and placebo is determined by machine and not determined by the investigators. The purpose of the randomized controlled trial is to:
- to guard against any use of judgment or systematic arrangements leading to one treatment getting preferential assignment, i.e., to avoid bias;
- to provide a basis for the standard methods of statistical analysis such as significance tests.
