Carole joined VCLS in January 2017 to support the development of the Market Access service. Carole will help shape the offering in line with industry standards and will lead and manage projects in the area, working closely with colleagues in Regulatory to ensure an aligned and integrated clinical program and commercialization strategy. Carole’s responsibilities will span Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and value communications support.
Carole has an extensive experience working on monoclonal antibodies, fusion protein biologics and biosimilars (with 7 SLRs, multiple subset analyses and 20 related publications completed). Additional focus areas have included ophthalmology, cardiovascular, neurology, oncology and rare diseases. Carole has a special interest in harnessing the power of Real-World Evidence (RWE) to support innovative, first-in-class molecules and has participated in multiple programs of work with clients in this area.
Carole has specialized in the field of Market Access, and has an extensive track record of working directly with NICE and NIHR on Health Technology Assessments and policy development in the UK. Carole has close working relationships with several Clinical Commissioning Groups in England, G-BA, HAS and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in the U.S. which provides an intimate perspective of the changing customer and the future implications for the commissioning of pharmaceutical products. A portfolio of work in mapping care pathways and the cycle-of-care has enabled Carole to engage across stakeholder audiences and contribute meaningfully to the integrated care agenda on behalf of clients.
Prior to joining VCLS, Carole worked with QLT/Novartis, where she gained industry experience working as part of the joint commercialization team for a novel, first in class treatment for Age-related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) before transitioning to a consulting role with IMS Health (now QuintilesIMS). As Practice Leader of the portfolio strategy practice, the role involved pipeline optimization, lifecycle management and franchise strategy, working predominantly with the top 20 Pharmaceutical companies.
Carole received a BSc (Med) degree from UCT and earned her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Graduate School of Business.
Carole is based in the United Kingdom, and works out of VCLS offices in Camberley, UK.
